GY-291 ADXL345 3-Axis Tilt Digital Gravity Acceleration Sensor

The ADXL345 is an independent 3-axis capacitive micromechanical accelerometer (3 DOF), which can be easily connected to an automaton or processor such as Arduino.

It is a capacitive micromechanical sensor (MEMS) that detects the acceleration in the X, Y and Z axes. It is also possible to determine the orientation of the sensor, thanks to the action of the force of gravity.

The GY-291 ADXL345 3-Axis Tilt Digital Gravity Acceleration Sensor is an ultra-low power device, with 45 μA in measurement mode and 0.1 μA in standby mode. It also has a FIFO memory block that stores up to 32 X, Y, and Z sets.

Communication can be done either by SPI bus or I2C bus, so it is easy to obtain measured data. The supply voltage is a low voltage between 2.0 to 3.6V.

They are frequently integrated into modules that depend on an accurate reading of their speed and rotation for instance quadcopters.

The GY-291 ADXL345 3-Axis Tilt Digital Gravity Acceleration Sensor has an adjustable measuring range between ± 2g, ± 4g, ± 8g, ± 16g, and a high resolution of up to 13 bits, with a sensitivity of 40mg / LSB in all ranges, equivalent to an accuracy higher than 1º.

The ADXL345 has two interrupt pins that we can configure to respond to certain events. These events include the detection of fast strokes and vibrations, in one or two pulses, and the detection of 0-g free fall conditions.

Accelerometers are devices widely used in all types of devices, determining the orientation in mobile or tablets, detecting free fall, measuring steps in pedometers, and stabilization of cameras, alarms, and vibration sensors, among many others.
