HC-08 Bluetooth UART breakout
The Bluetooth (HC-08) Serial module 4.0 low energy module, can easily connect to iOS 5 and Android 4.3 or above by using a serial terminal app. You can use Bluetooth communication up to 87 yards (80 meters) with this Bluetooth BLE module. It also runs on a 2.4GHz frequency. The chipset is CC2540 with 256K Byte space. You can change the role and serial baud rate and it supports AT commands for configuration.
These modules can behave as slaves or masters, which are used to listen to connection requests and others to generate connection requests. If any device is connected, the module transmits to it all the data it receives from the Arduino and vice versa. The HC-08 module allows the transmission and receives data through the serial port of the microcontroller wirelessly. It belongs to version 4.0 of Bluetooth devices, which has the same characteristics as its predecessors, but with the difference that this device is low energy consumption. It also adds the feature of being compatible with Apple brand products. It has a working frequency of 2.4GHz ISM, GFSK modulation, a maximum transmission power of 4dBm, reception sensitivity of -93dBm, and 80 meters of communication in environments without obstacles.
