NE555N One Bipolar 555 Timer
This is one of the first IC's made and up until today on of the most often used. You find these little IC's everywhere. If you are new to electronics this will probably be the first IC you ever use, if you are an old hand in electronics I am sure you have a stack of them available in your component box. It is used for creating a pulsed output to control other IC's or to simply make and LED flicker.
